Melbourne Detention Centre

August 20, 2010 by Susanna Leave a Comment

I hadn’t realised there was a detention centre, Melbourne Immigration Transit Accommodation, just up the road in Broadmeadows.

You’ll find it hidden away behind the army barracks on Camp Road with no sign to indicate it’s there at all.

The detention centre holds an estimated 42 unaccompanied Afghan teenagers – all from the Hazara ethnic minority.
